On this post we are going to be talking about how to keep your computer virus free and up and running. Almost every person has a laptop or PC and stores important data and information on it. Imagine if you lost all that data or your personal information got into the wrong hands. This would probably ruin your day. Take some of our tips and ideas and don’t let this disaster happen to you!

Run a Good Anti-Virus Program

Rule #1 is to have a good anti-virus. This doesn’t mean you need to pay a boat load of cash for this; you can actually get it for FREE! Our personal favorite is Avast. It’s free and well trusted by millions of people. Or go to Google and type in “Best Anti-Virus Program” or something of that nature. What ever your choice is make sure to always have one running. One wrong move without an anti-virus and your computer may be doomed. If you find a good anti-virus let us know about it on our Google Plus page.

Watch the Websites you go on!

Rule #2 is watch what websites you go on. Avast has a add on that shows you the trustworthiness of any site. Make sure you talk to your kids about how to stay safe on the internet. This will protect them and your computer. If a site asks you to download something, be weary of it; it may contain a virus or trojan.

What to do if you get a virus?

First of all, don’t panic! Most viruses and trojans can be removed. An important tip to remember is; if your computer says you have a virus and you need to buy or install a remover, do not do it. This is most likely another virus and if you put in your credit card it can only mean no good. Next what you want to do is get on your cell phone browser or go to the local library and get some numbers for local computer repair shops. Tell them your situation and get a quote for the repair. Remember it is not the end of the world, it’s just the end of $100.

Take our advice and keep your PC safe!

We hope this short post has helped you out. If you take these ideas and implement them you have a much better chance of staying virus free. If you have any more ideas that you would like to share make sure and visit our Google + and let us know about it. We would love to hear your ideas and tips!
